The global phenomenon...here's a photo I took today in Girona.
Apparently all they sell is Corona, faux diamond earrings, and hair product.

fugg.. today didn't start off too good. up at 5:30 AM! pick tim up.. rally time. cruzin.. and i do mean cruzin. 19's looking clean.. oakenfold preaching on the kenwood.. starbuck in hand.. and the sun in just about to peek over the horizon.. then BAM!!! fugg.. "what was that?" ummm. "i think an asteroid but i'm not sure.. i'll take the next exit." hit the cherry ln exit then.. beep, beep, beep, oil light flashing. this can't be good. uhhh..

then..

yeah.. that's 5 quarts of oil on the ground. and it was a boulder, not asteriod, that ripped my oil pan open like a potato. not really much we could do besides let the oil drain.. and then push it to the next gas station so we don't have to pay to clean it up : ) just kidding for all you tree huggers out there. tim cook (btw.. tim's tx's newest cat II - congrats!) personally called the city of ft. worth and let them know about the spill. i just hope the bill i receive isn't too much for the valdez cleanup.

i figured since the damage was done.. we might as well ride home. once the two truck arrived we threw on our leotards and were on our merry way. i thought, since we were in ft. worth, we might as well hit up some of my favorites westernly roads.

simply beautiful..

god made roads like this so man could find his soul..

i was riding with purpose.. for the first time in a while, i was actually in the "zone". 2:00hr's into our ride my average wattage was 309 (ahhh yea.. the dream-o-meter) and the legs were just floating. maybe it's just being on my favorite roads again or maybe i was pissed. either way.. it was beautiful.

as tim said.. "it could be worse".. but it was quite the contrary.. it was a pretty damn good day.. until tomorrow. then i have to start tearing my car apart : ( oh well..

i think it's every man's dream to have a son.. somebody to you teach "life" to.. somebody to looks up to you no matter what the circumstances.. somebody who..

gets their cut like you!

i now know what it's like to have that "son".. besides the birth of my girls.. i've never been so proud.

btw.. next time you're at sean lauren you can see the above picture in b&w PROUDLY displayed in missy's room. tristen, next cut's on me..

actually all the "kids" on the team are awesome. i've had more fun racing with them than most anybody in my life. i posted in a previous post that tyler and tristen where two of my favorite racers.. but i accidentally left my boy andrew off the list. tyler, tristen, and andrew and all great guys, HUGE talents, and a ton of fun. i had an absolute blast this past weekend.. hopefully there will be plenty more good times to come.

team pic after the race.. carlos is missing.. prolly off punching somebody in the face : )

from left: tristen, myself, tyler, andrew, bret, and the infamous barry lee.

they all have a big future in the sport. hopefully i'll be in a position to help them along. i've made some calls to my "buds" in the business so hopefully something will pan out for them. until then.. i'll have the time of my life lining up with them.

side note: maybe carlos should rethink the whole "face punching" thing. my experience has always been broken hand and trip to the hospital when "face punching" is pursued. maybe he should reconsider and try a gut shot, or maybe the a$$.. something with a little more fat or muscle. i'm just saying.. : )

fugg.. just finished the hardest training ride of the year.. 4 hr's total with the last hour being behind the motorpace bike.. which, by the way, is in the process of being all modded/murdered out : )

started off with the las colinas (i always think of lawerence when i say that.. you know.. "man, we're doing the drywall down at the new McDonald's in las colinas) anyway.. ride which is always fun. started with some "easy" riding in preparation for the hard workout ahead. tim was at my house at 7:30 and we were out the door by 7:35. felt pretty good during the initial rollout but after i made a few efforts around the bike, i quickly realized that i didn't have as much in the tank as i thought. we tried a couple more laps with the same result.. COOKED.. we'll try it again next week : )

i'm really looking foward to the weekend.. reuniting with some old teammates and friends.. it's gonna to be fun. the one i really can't wait to see is jonny sundt. for those who don't know jonnycat.. he's an awesome dude.. just fuggin cool. you have to introduce yourself.

well.. i'm gonna go pour another glass..

2. tim cook is coming.. that dude tore the catIII field up this weekend. he won the field sprint saturday with one leg. he's been getting solid results all year.. hopefully we be racing together on the same team next year.
3. i need to ride more : )
4. i have great hair
5. tristan uhl and tyler jewell are two of my favorite racers of all time.
6. BARRY LEE IS THE MAN!!! nuff said..

well.. as i type this, it looks like the rain has passed and it's now sunny outside. too late.. i've already cracked up a bottle of wine. why do today (get fit) what i can put off until tomorrow.

it's amazing just how busy you truly are when you have kids.. during the memorial day weekend i decided to take the entire week off to get some "stuff" done around the house.. and i use the term "stuff" very loosely. first off, i'm restoring an old pre-WWII cabinet that is very complex.. and second, i decided to buy baby girl a playground and surprise her for her birthday. my typical schedule was up at 5:30am, have breakfast at my favorite hole-n-the-wall mexican restaurant, and then being working around 7am. true to form.. it was the first hot spell we've had yet. everyday was in the high 90's with no breeze and no time to relax.. working about 15 hours a day.

the cabinet is something that i've had for years. it was originally my father-in-laws but he left it behind when he moved out so i kind of inherited it. it's a BEAST. solid oak and the techniques the used to build it aren't practiced very much any longer. being a very novice woodworker it tested my ability and patience to the maximum. here's what i started with..

here's another pic after i started the disassemble..

i don't want to post anymore pictures until i have the final product.. hopefully soon.

as for the playground.. here's the sequence:

day 1

day 2

and that's 7 yards of pea gravel.

and finally.. day 3

baby girl LOVES it. she was at grammys house during the build and she had no idea she was getting it.. it was a total surprise. now i can't get her off of the thing ; )

NOTE: im'm going to enclose the treated lumber boundries with cedar to match the wood on the playground.. it's gonna be gangsta..

here's a couple pics from her tea party..

all dressed up.. they had a ball!

make a wish..

and one of my favorites.. wallE

mama's birthday is this weekend so i'm not sure if i'll be doing any racing.. i've been riding though.. back to my old ways. it's amazing how quick you start to see improvements.. thank gawd.
