As Nick and I enjoyed the relative ease of sitting back in the smoker's section during Pace Bend, The world's longest criterium, I was checking out his fly new ride. Nick was jealous of the fact that my bike was adorned with SRAM Red before, so of course he had to get some for himself. However, I noticed something odd about his brake calipers. Most SRAM Red brakes have a dull sheen finish to them. His, however, sparkled like the ice that usually adorns his wrist and ear lobes. Yes, that's right, from the man that brought you SURFERNICK.COM decals on his crankarms and $400 saddles, Nick Kiernan proudly presents: Polished brake calipers. DO WORK! it was a little nerve-racking "modifying" my $4k srm with a dremel tool to make it work with the sram red ceramic bottom bracket.. but it works : ) nice and smooth.. it's all about the watts.. do work tim! surFy

I PROMISE i didn't teach her this.. i guess she has a dominate middle finger : ) OR she was really pissed at the dude who cut us off.. valentines day at 602 was pretty uneventful.. we had reservations at bucca di beppo last night for the family.. and then we hit up denny's for a little coffee. mama and i are going to celebrate on saturday.. brazilian style! today my boy tim is hard at work throwin some sram red on the g-ride.. this bike is going to be insanely sick when it's finished.. 100% ceramic and carbon goodness : ) wait till i get my racing wheels... i'll post some pictures this weekend. i don't want to be late leaving early! surFy

a pictorial history lesson on the surFnick.. how my sporting career began.. soo cute : ) making even snoop dog proud.. the funny thing is i still remember, to this day, thinking how "rad" i looked. i mean.. come on.. electric blue, hair slicked back like dinero, spit-shined black leather shoes.. unstoppable. a little bit ahead of my time ; ) this one's for my boy tim cook.. i told ya so. jessica dean tragically died a couple years after high school. i was living in san diego at the time.. i had come in from surfing was about to take a shower before my roommate and close friend, jason brown, asked me to sit down. he went on to tell me that my mom had call and told him that jessica had been found dead.. apparently of a drug overdose. she was a shining star.. on a more happy note.. baby girl and i woke up a little early this morning and made some yummy pancakes together. she's a great cook :) but i think she ate half the batter before we got the first pancake on the stove.. -out surFy

man.. i thought we had this crappy weather beat.. wishful thinking i guess. i can honestly say for the first time in a long time i actually feel good on the bike again.. and i'm enjoying it! i'm really looking forward to riding this year.. maybe racing a little bit.. if mama approves of course : ) if not, at least i'll look ridiculously pimp.. well as pimp as a grown man can look in a leotard. and speaking of pimp.. my sram srm is about to have ceramic bearings in it : ) i'm expecting some BIG wattage gains.. if nothing else, at least i won't have to pedal as much. ohh.. and i almost forgot, it's also going to have a white powercontrol too : ) gotta run.. surFy

here we go.. the much anticipated txtough.org clothing. my opinion.. pimp.. of course : ) how can you go wrong with green, black, and stars?? that's right.. u can't. and now i have matching stars on the scott : ) hopefully it'll make me go FAST this year. my good friend, the hippstar, was in town yesterday. we rode out to the saturday mad duck ride to ride with the metro volkswagen crew.. a.k.a. rogut and the wombats. for those who haven't done that ride.. give it a try. it's a great ride. low key and lots of great people. and speaking of great.. when you're at the next race, stop by and see the metro vw trailer. that thing is awesome! rogut finally got it right ; ) complete with an espresso machine! it's rad for sure.. and while we're on the subject of rad.. i forgot to mention that i was the e-town starbucks (by far the greatest starbucks on the planet.. probably the entire universe) customer of the week. entitled to free coffee everyday for seven days! megan even drew this very artistic mug shot of me. please note: my beard, or lack of, is not near that thick. time to run and knock out some "honey do's". -out surFy
